Fly

You lie belly up
in that puddle of mud
that once has been you
don't dare to taint me, too!

I wrap up my skirts and jump back a step
beware that your puddle will make me wet
those muddy waters should never touch
a spirit that can give so much.

As I jump and I squeak
a rose tints my cheek
for this delightful exercise
makes me both healthy and wise.

How could I ever fall
for a person so small
for a mind so frail
that it can only fail.

Me, the mother of a child
who bears a spirit so happy and wild,
who stands in the middle of her life
being a woman, a lover, a wife.

I'm laughing out loud
as my dancing feet find out
how high they can possibly fly
without your muddy waters darkening my sky.
